Sight words are important in teaching beginning learners how to read. Use these 65+ sight word printables and activities to help your beginning reader. When I was teaching my first child how to read, I felt like using sight words was a cop out; memorizing how a word looks and connecting it to a picture. I thought it was wrong for some reason, not knowing that sight words build a foundation for learning to read. The meaning of the words don’t have to be sounded out or understood first, the understanding comes once they remember the words and put them into context. That was a relief for me and helped so much in learning, for myself, the importance of site words.
3 Dinosaurs has put together a list on resources, printables- most of which are free, and activities to help you with teaching sight words to your little ones.
