I cannot remember what I was searching online, but I stumbled upon a FREE online course called More Than Financial Peace that I thought was something you might enjoy.
Early in our marriage, my husband and I made some very poor financial decisions. Our bills escalated higher than our earnings and our credit went in the toilet. We had several credit cards and 2 high interest car loans. We were trying to make it as new, self-employed business owners and things were a slow-go.
It took 7 years of really focusing on wiping out our debt, saving, and paying off our car loans before we would see things turn around for us when it came to our credit scores. We are so glad our teenager lived through our many financial mistakes and what we had to do to recover from them, because she is so much smarter about her money than we were as younger adults.
She is a Senior this year and going through Dave Ramsay’s Foundations in Personal Finance: High School Edition. It made it to the top of her list of most enjoyed courses in her high school years. You can read about our experience with it here.
One of the things we did to cut down on our expenses (by over $600 a month!) was to join Christian Healthcare Ministries and drop our insurance that got so jacked up in price while not offering much coverage. You can learn more about our experience with submitting claims for full reimbursement here.
Christian Healthcare Ministries (CHM) is an affordable, faith-based solution for Christians to the problems of rising healthcare costs and expensive health insurance policies. An eligible option under the national healthcare law, CHM is thousands of Christians united in sharing each other’s medical bills. Learn More
