I LOVE poetry and I love teaching poetry to my children. There are so many different ways that you can do this, there really is no wrong way to teach poetry! My favorite way is to have some poetry compilation books laying around for my children to read. We love to read them and see which poems they gravitate towards the most, from there we pick a poet whose style we really enjoy and we learn about that poet and read more poems.
I also enjoy teaching about the different types of poems and letting my children have their hand at trying to recreate and write their very own poems.
