In my area of the country, hurricane season starts June 1st and continues until November 30th, but it depends on the area. There is usually a tension that can be felt when a hurricane is approaching the coast. The stores sell out of bread and milk and there are long lines at the gas station pumps. You just never know how bad things might get!
What an interesting unit study this would make for students – hurricanes! They are slow-moving, destructive behemoths and lots of study has been done on them. There is much to learn!
