I am not a big fan of science experiments because the fun ones are always messy! This is why I like to reserve the fun, messy experiments for the summer time. We can devote an entire day to science experiments and we can do most of them outside where we can hose things off if we need to!
Here are some fun ideas for some messy science experiments that are perfect for finishing off the summer with a bang:
Make a Rainbow Bubble Snake from Housing a Forest – this is a fun and simple experiment. You can even race with your friends to see who can blow the longest bubble snake!
Pop Rocks Expander Candy Science from Steve Spangler Science – make a balloon blow up by putting pop rocks in soda pop! This is a super fun experiment your kids will love!
Water Balloon Paint Splatter Gravity Fall Experiment from Science Sparks– make splatter paint designs by dropping your balloons at different heights. Guess which drops will make the biggest splatter.
Mentos Geyser from I Can Teach My Child – this is an awesome experiment to do if you have a big back yard or parking lot. Make sure that you have a water hose handy to wipe up the sticky mess!
Water Bottle Fountain from Learn With Play at Home – this looks like so much fun, especially when you use colored water.
Watermelon Volcano Science from Little Bins for Little Hands – this takes the classic baking soda and vinegar experiment to another level! Using a watermelon is the perfect summer activity.
Growing a Jeweled Rose always has the greatest messy experiments!
Fizzy Mud Recipe for Play
Summer Fun Funky Frozen Treat Day – this looks like so much fun! I really love the erupting ice cream cones!
