The Mystery of History is the only curriculum series that we have used all the way through. We LOVE it! I hated history when I was a kid – it was SO BORING. Going through The Mystery of History Series with my daughter has given us BOTH a LOVE for history. You can read my review here (although I wrote it several years ago before we even finished Volume 1.)
Throughout the years of using The Mystery of History we made it our own by incorporating notebooking. My daughter struggled with worksheets in the middle years and I was frustrated because she couldn’t score well on a test. We tossed aside all of the worksheets, tests, etc, and opted to enjoy the wonderfully written lessons and use written narration (notebooking) to record what she learned. Guess what? She could actually re-tell the entire lesson in her own words – which showed me she WAS learning!
