picturingthepast
An entire year of homeschooling goodness is packed into this beautiful full color handbook! This workbook is excellent for a wide variety of ages, and not only introduces the student to some amazing works of art, but also helps the child discover the meaning, importance, history and story behind the pictures.

This book covers European and American History from a domestic perspective from the 18th, 19th and early 20th centuries. Students will learn what life was like for Americans and Europeans during these centuries. All of the paintings are carefully chosen to be appropriate for all ages, and do not contain nudity like many other books that are used for young students. Many of the pictures are about people, animals, home life, village life, and some of the pictures are of interesting places. There are even a few humorous pictures to study!

About the Publisher

I stumbled upon Dyslexia Games (The Thinking Tree) online one day and was so excited about what I had found! We immediately contacted them and they sent us a great sample of their products! I have one daughter with some learning challenges, and another daughter who is dyslexic. I spent hours pouring over the samples and knew that these products would be an awesome fit for both of them!

Dyslexia Games was invented several years ago by Sarah Janisse Brown, a Creative Learning Specialist, who also home educates her children. When Josh and Sarah found out that their 8 year old daughter, Anna, had Dyslexia, they began their search for answers and solutions. Sarah was amazed and puzzled by the way Anna, like most dyslexic children, could create detailed works of art and yet still struggle with simple reading tasks. Sarah was determined to find out why such brilliant kids couldn’t learn to read.

All of their curricula was designed by and for learners with Dyslexia and Asperger’s, but that doesn’t mean that it would not benefit most any homeschool! Some people need to be able to use the colorful, creative side of the brain when learning to read, write and spell! By doing the pattern games, art mysteries and fun puzzles the right side of the brain gets activated when learning! People who think in pictures learn on a whole different level!

They were so generous to offer us an AMAZING Charlotte Mason Style freebie for everyone that enters the HUGE Giveaway!
