NOTE: This is NOT a Homeschool Giveaways Giveaway! Click here to enter!
As I have walked this journey of healing in the area of anger, I have found a few resources that have been so helpful to me. I want to share them with you. I’ll be giving away two of these packs, so you have excellent chances of winning. Be sure to maximize all of your entries by leaving comments here, on this page.
Here is a list of the resources and why I’m including them in the giveaway:
1. Anger: Relationship Poison (CD)
Steve and Terri Maxwell just sound nice. They are the sweetest-sounding couple when you hear them do this talk. This is the first time I have ever heard someone make the argument that we are not to express our anger. It took me a long time to wrap my mind around that, and I’m definitely a far cry from that ideal, but I am thankful for the Maxwell’s willingness to take a stance on anger.
2. Freedom from the Spirit of Anger, S.M. Davis (CD)
The Maxwell’s recommend this CD on their website and I had to buy it. I’m so glad I did. This has been so very instrumental in my healing from the “roots” of anger in my life. *also, I think you’ll love his southern accent as he speaks!
3. Warrior Mother: Fighting FOR the Kids, Not With Them (CD)
Beverly Bradley is one of my favorite all-time speakers. She has such a heart for God it pours out in her words. I was able to be at a conference where she presented this and it was so great for me to hear. It changed the way I look at my children, and it changed my view of my role as their mother. I also got to hear her husband speak on anger at the same conference, keep a lookout on their website for this CD too.
4. Life Principles Study Guide: Becoming Emotionally Whole
by Charles Stanley. Shortly after I began “working” on my anger, my mom gave me this book. In a study format, with questions and verses to look up, Stanley discusses the different emotions of: guilt, fear, rejection, anger, and anxiety. He defines the emotions and gives greater understanding to why we feel them. He also gives help for those of us struggling to express our emotions in a God-honoring way.
5. Our 24 Family Ways
I find that oftentimes my anger is a result of not being consistent in my parenting. I feel like I am constantly correcting with no results, and I end up in a fit of yelling or exasperation.
This book of Clay Clarkson’s will give a great basis for teaching our children biblical character. There are 24 standards to teach your children with coloring pages (for the younger ones), memory passages, character quality definitions, and much more. You can see a full description of the book at the Wholeheart Webpage.
6. A Prayer Notebook
I talked about the prayer notebook in an earlier post in this series. I’m including this 5×7, 3 subject notebook so that you can get started with your prayer journal in 3 sections: 1. verses for quick reference (on anger, or just verses you find encouraging) 2. “inventory”: a place to write down your sins, repent and pray over them, then write FORGIVEN!, and 3. a spot for your prayers! or whatever you want to write! I think my next one will be a spot for daily blessings, Ann Voskamp style.
2 winners will receive all six of these resources!
