A few years ago we stumbled upon a copy of Geography from A to Z: A Picture Glossary by Jack Knowlton and Harriet Barton. We have used this handy, colorful book several times when my daughter came across a geography term that she wasn’t familiar with. We pair it with the Picture Glossary Notebook, which she uses to draw the terms to make her own visual glossary.

Geography from A to Z: A Picture Glossary

Geography from A to Z: A Picture Glossary is a popular book that is used in My Father’s World Exploring Countries and Cultures curriculum, Classical Conversations, and GeoMatters’ Galloping the Globe

It will truly enhance any geography curriculum. If you have this book or you plan to use it, the Picture Glossary Notebook (available below) will be an invaluable tool to go with it.

Geo-AZDrawing Geography Terms

Because my daughter loves to draw and color and this book has been so helpful to her when learning new geography terms, I created the Picture Glossary Notebook to go with it.

This Picture Glossary Notebook works great alongside the book Geography from A to Z: A Picture Glossary.

Let me explain.

You can print a page for each term using which ever template you prefer. Each picture glossary page includes a place for the student to write the definition and a box to draw the illustration by copying it from the book, and even space to use it in a sentence.

It’s that simple!

Well look no further. This broad introduction to the fascinating world around us explores our planet’s physical features from the highest mountain peak to the deepest ocean trench.

Visual Dictionary of Terms

I love the detailed visual graphics of each vocabulary term included in the book. Using the Picure Glossary Notebook, your student will have so much fun learning geography terms. This will become a treasured keepsake for years to come.

Students will love copying the illustrations from the book and coloring them. This process helps young minds really get a good grasp on what each term really means (and looks like).

We plan to continue using the Picture Glossary Notebook in our homeschool this year. My daughter has already started on it {for fun}, you can see some of her drawings below.
