It sounds like such a horrible question. Do I really love my family? Many moms actually ask this question in secrecy, in their thoughts. It is no surprise when we think about how many parents abandon their kids, how many children are in foster homes or how many babies are aborted every year. I think maybe all of us have thought about why we do what we do. Sometimes it seems extremely overwhelming. Sometimes we feel numb. Sometimes, that is OK. Just because we are woman, it doesn’t automatically mean we will be great moms, the perfect homemakers or even like doing either of those things most of the time.

Through a tough time in my life when I was a single mom, I went through all the motions of being a mom. I worked, cooked, cleaned, bathed the kids, and put them to bed by eight…. then just cry myself to bed. I did what I had to do, but felt I had no love to give. However following Christ, especially in times we feel like this, means trusting Him moment by moment. It means taking steps, even when we feel we can’t take one more. Read some insight on hope, encouragement, and comfort in God’s truth.
