Raise your hand if you struggle with keeping your focus on the little people in front of you and not the millions of tasks ahead of you each day. Yes- me too! In the age of social media, overbooked schedules, and overloaded Mom brains, we can sometimes allow the habit of truly attending to our loved ones slip through the cracks. To pay attention is to listen with our eyes, our ears, and our hearts. How often do we “uh-huh”, “yeah”, “mmmkay” to our kids without ever looking them in the eye and truly listening with a desire to understand? (I think you can already glean my answer.)

I’m definitely guilty of getting too wrapped up in social media and all the comparison, stress, and drama that can unfortunately come with it. I needed a way to keep my mind tuned into God’s word and turned off to the loud voices on Facebook and the dinging of my phone. I developed 4 practical steps to overcoming distraction so that I can be the PATIENT, attentive mom that I so desperately want to be.

Included in these 4 simple steps is scripture memory. God’s word can help us overcome any bad habit, but we have to make the time to sow it fully into our hearts. There’s no greater blessing that writing God’s word on our hearts so it can rise up and remind us of what HE says when we are most distracted.

Head over to Life, Abundantly today to check out the four steps to overcoming irritation and impatience that’s often caused by distraction, plus grab the beautiful scripture cards and botanical prints while you are there!
