College isn’t always a necessary track for your homeschooled highschooler. If your teen is not college bound, and wants to start working soon after they graduate, trade school may be the answer.
A technical or trade school is a great option for a student that doesn’t want to go to a 4 year university. My son graduated from our homeschool last year, he completed half of his 2 year degree in computer networking while he was in his last two years of our homeschool. He will graduate from his technical school this December and is so excited to jump immediately into his career field, making decent money at only 19 years old! Preparing for a trade or technical school is a little bit different than preparing your homeschooler for a four year college. Some of the steps are the same, but there are some different things you will need to do as well. Year Round Homeschooling has 6 helpful steps to help prepare your teen for tech or trade school.
