My husband and I are both entrepreneurs and have worked from home for over a decade. Things were REALLY, REALLY, difficult for us in the beginning. I went from being a retail store manager at a job I absolutely loved – making great money with full benefits – to staying at home and helping my husband get his business off of the ground. Going from a steady paycheck to unknown earnings is scary, to say the least.

I begrudgingly helped him and I wasn’t always kind about it. We struggled financially and had a vehicle repossessed, electricity turned off and barely saved our home from foreclosure several times. I sure wish we would have had a course like BeansTalk KnowHow to help us out in those early days!

When we were contacted by Steve and asked to review his course, I had the perfect person in mind for the review. Melissa is on our team here at HSG and she does some admin duties for me. She works in accounting from home, so I figured she would be interested in the various modules offered. She also has an 11th grade daughter who wants to start her own business, so it was a perfect fit for them.

I originally wanted to review this curriculum to help my daughter gain some business knowledge and financial literacy. Little did I know, I would gain so much from this amazing program! I have been keeping the books for a small construction company for the almost 17 years. I did not take any accounting classes prior to beginning my job, but instead I learned along the way how to do the job as they needed me to.

I never really understood the why behind many of my tasks. While working through this program in preparation for my daughter, I was able to gain a better understanding of the why behind how I do things, such as; balance sheets, fixed assets and depreciation. With this new understanding, I am able to do my job much more efficiently. This in turn makes me a more valuable asset to my company.

Financial literacy is so very important and should be a requirement in all schools and homeschools. Learning these basics early will set our children up for success as they grow and venture out on their own.

Throughout these modules you will learn:

  • How accounts are prepared
  • How to read numbers
  • How to understand financial statements
  • How a business works
  • Strategies for growth
  • Exit strategies
  • and more
