How many of us want to just declutter our whole home in the New Year?! It’s hard to make that first step. You really just don’t know where to start sometimes. We live in a family home, meaning it belongs to my husband’s family. So when I moved in, gasp.. I found out that it was more of a storage area for things no one wanted. Whenever there was too much of something, this house was used to store those ‘things’ in. Just to give you an idea, when I moved in, the living room area had 6 china cabinets in it…6. There were also 1960s couches and some dresser drawers. Not lying. They weren’t beautiful, extravagant ones either, they were 1960s or older and termite ridden. The other rooms were just filled with lots of stuff and more old furniture.

Don’t get me wrong, I am grateful for having home, I am only describing what I faced. I won’t go into further details, but I will tell you that I cried… a lot, in that first 6 months there. Decluttering seemed to be a massive impossible feat. So, I am speaking from experience when  I tell you that any help is useful. The Turquoise Home has some pretty useful steps to follow to get things started or at least lock down an action plan.
