I have been waiting for this week – Oklahoma! I was born and raised in Oklahoma, so of course I am a little partial to the state and all it has to offer. I am an Okie through and through. I love the Oklahoma Sooners, OKC Thunder and all things Green Country. I grew up in the Northeastern part of the state, but have family in Oklahoma City as well as out west and in North-Central Oklahoma. I haven’t been everywhere in the state, but I have visited quite a bit – even if just a quick passing through.

Learning about Oklahoma? We have everything you need to teach and/or learn about the state of Oklahoma! From free printables, recipes, sites to see and more! :: www.homeschoolgiveaways.com

Oklahoma is known for so many different things. Most notably the musical named after the state, the OKC Thunder and sadly, the Oklahoma City Bombing that happened on April 19, 1995 (my senior year of high school). Of course, we also have our fair share of famous people who hail from our fair state – including country stars Garth Brooks, Blake Shelton, Reba McEntire, Carrie Underwood and Vince Gill as well as Will Rogers, James Garner, Ron Howard, Shannon Miller (Olympic Gold Medalist), Brad Pitt, Mickey Mantle (who grew up down the street from my husband’s grandpa) and many more.

I lived in Oklahoma my entire life until I attended college in Missouri starting in 2000. Then, we moved back in 2006 and lived there until 2013 when we moved to Indiana. Most of our family lives there, so we visit frequently. In fact, we’re hoping to be there for Thanksgiving this year. However, if you have never been there, you can still learn about Oklahoma as I have gathered some great resources for you all in one convenient place. Each state has a history, fun facts and wonderful sites to see. Over the next year, I will be sharing resources – printables, travel destinations and food favorites – from each state.
