For years I used to hear about a woman’s “me time” and I’d think that it sounded very self-centered. It would jump off the covers of magazines in the checkout aisles and seemed to scream at me from every painted nail and face. I realize now that it can be a selfish, worldly philosophy when it is out of balance, but that resting, recharging, and even a little pampering is a wonderful thing. God gave us the example of Rest when He rested on the seventh day. He did it to show us humans what to do, not because He was exhausted and needed a rest!
In light of that, do you need rest? I’m guessing that if you’re a wife, mom, homeschool teacher, nursery worker, friend, sister, daughter, and a co-op leader, your answer is a weary “Yes.” Don’t be sad; be excited that you have been able to identify a need that you can fix.
At first glance, it may seem that doing one of the ideas on the list would hardly put a dent in your rest deficit, but that’s not true! These aren’t a one-time thing. Pick one to do every day, and keep up with it. You are important! You have great responsibilities hanging on your shoulders! You deserve to rest and recharge!
