Teaching Literature Through Art Subscriber Freebie

This is a perfect supplement for a course in either art or literature.  Students learn the genres of literature, techniques, elements and principles of art, and art appreciation as well. Poetry of all kinds, novels, epics, tall tales, journals, essays, biographies, journals and much more are included. A sample would be to read a portion of Catlin’s journal about the Indians and then seeing several of his paintings, and doing a work of art to go along with the them. Another sample is learning about a novella and then reading about Call of the Wild and doing a picture of the main character dog after seeing one of the first illustrations done from the book.

Science fiction writers H.G. Wells and Jules Verne are studied, while looking at original illustrations from their books, and then listening to a radio version of “War of the World” and finally drawing a rocket ship and space aliens from the future. Learning how to do portraits in art is covered along with the biography lessons.

This book makes learning literature fun and memorable!
