I just adore Darlene Schacht, author of this new book that every wife and aspiring wife should read! I have been following her blog www.timewarpwife.com for several years. She is a New York Times Bestselling Author, yet she is so real and humble.

I am more than 3/4 of the way through Messy Beautiful Love and it has been transforming! While reading this book, the Lord brought several scriptures to life through her words.

1 Corinthians 13:4-7 – “Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up;  does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil;  does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth;  bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. NKJV

Love does not parade itself, is not puffed up. The NLT has a more frank wording of this that cuts deep:

Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.

While reading this book, Darlene points out what being “boastful” in our marriage really is. I cannot tell you how many times I have read and heard those verses. I was immediately convicted when she put it into perspective! How many times have I stayed up super late after everyone is sleeping to clean the house in peace and quiet AND get his coffee ready to brew in the morning? Well, in case he doesn’t notice, I have always reminded him so I could be praised! This is just ONE thing that has changed me since reading Messy Beautiful Love!

Darlene is REAL and her stories are so relatable. She discusses submission with so much grace and helps you see it in action through her honest, real-life stories. This is not a controversial book about being a doormat, but one that abounds in grace and demonstrates true sacrifices in marriage and a life-long commitment that honors Christ!

Any young woman – single or married, would get so much out of this book. I only wish I would have read it many years ago! When you pre-order it, you get over $50 in free stuff! Click here to read more about the book and the bundle of freebies you are blessed with by pre-ordering it.

Here is another quote I scribbled down in my journal. I am SO guilty of this!

Disclaimer: I was sent an early reader copy (as a surprise!) and was told that if I read it and wanted to share my thoughts that it would be a blessing (or something like that.) I did not commit to posting anything prior to getting the book (Darlene didn’t even tell me she sent me one!) and all of the opinions are my own.
